When I visited my sister recently, we were able to go see the band, "We The Kingdom." It was such an amazing experience. If you think Christian music isn't relevant or for you, you need to go to a concert! Anyway, one of the most memorable moments of the night was when they sang "Don't Tread on Me." People were dancing in the aisles and singing to the top of their lungs. Here a link to the song to get you in the mood: https://youtu.be/9dowS2k2TS4?si=KAzhlFdW75Rd-9f4
For the past couple of weeks, I've been a bit out of sorts. Sometimes it doesn't affect me much, but other times, like yesterday and early this morning, it was bad. When I am in moods like this, my mind starts rambling all over the place and finally settles on something I wasn't expecting. What I settled on was that I am NOT a writer and I don't know what I'm doing. I started thinking that God didn't give me a gift to use - and who in the world did I think I was to even think I could help someone with my stories?! That's what I was thinking this morning, which then lead me to thinking I would skip bible study at church. This was our last video session for this study, but I was going to stay home.
I was so close to doing that, when "Don't Tread on Me" popped into my head! Now, I've only heard it once since that concert and it definitely wasn't playing on the radio (I didn't have the radio on). But as soon as it popped in my head, I went to my computer, opened YouTube and listened to this song. By the time it was finished, I was writing an outline of this blog and I was determined to go to bible study.
You're Nothing But a Liar!
That's what the enemy is - and that's what he does. He is a liar. He twists your thoughts and he multiplies your vulnerabilities until you can't see the Truth. He makes you see the worst parts of yourself and he tells you that is You. He hits you when you are the most vulnerable, the most sick, the most confused and he starts whispering lies into your ear. But he's nothing but a liar!
The devil can only influence us as much as we allow him. It's up to us to remember the Truth, and know that God only wants the best for us, while Satan only wants to destroy us. Isaiah 54:17a (AMP) says it this way:
"No weapon that is formed against you will succeed"
Light and darkness cannot exist in one space. God and the devil cannot live in one space. If we are children of God, the enemy cannot live in us. But he can manipulate us and lie to us if we let him. He can begin to make us doubt our worth; he can begin to make us want to withdraw, feeling we aren't needed. So what do we do?
We keep ever-focused on God. When we begin to doubt or to question, we go to trusted friends who will tell us the truth. We don't withdraw from those who love us - that's exactly what Satan wants. Remember, the Bible is TRUTH and it says that no weapon formed against us will succeed. So let's take that knowledge and use it again the enemy. Let's tell him, Get on out of here; Ain't no devil gonna tread on me!
If you are not a child of God, I want to tell you right now that He is waiting for you! He has something special in mind for you. He loves you and can't wait for you to meet Him. I'd love to talk to you about this.
As a child of God, how do you remember the truth when the enemy is whispering in your ear? What has worked for you? How do you say, Ain't no devil gonna tread on me?
